Direct Energy and our parent company, Centrica, are proud to have established a leadership position on climate change. As the second largest green retailer in Canada, we’ve invested in low and zero carbon power generation, have over 810 MW of emission-free wind energy capacity in Texas and offer our customers a suite of green products and services.
And now, we’re thrilled to support our friends of the Silent Sound on their latest adventure – the Open Passage Expedition, setting sail from British Columbia on June 6, 2009. The 40-foot sailing yacht Silent Sound will embark on a voyage through Canada's Northwest Passage – and we’ll support them throughout their journey. The expedition plans to arrive in Halifax, NS, in late September or early October.
The goal of this carbon-neutral expedition is to use written word, film and photography to bring to life the true drama taking place in the Arctic. All of it will be factually based to tell the story of how climate change is affecting Arctic communities.
Aboard the Silent Sound is Cameron Deuck – and he will keep us updated throughout his journey. We hope you join us online to hear about his adventures every step of the way!
